WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
Warranty & Disclaimer
---------------------
Basically, there is NO WARRANTY. PERIOD. This software is provided
'as is' and is guarunteed to do absolutely nothing. I cannot, and
WILL NOT be responsible for anything this program does or does not
do. I, RANDAL C. HUNT, WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR THIS PROGRAM IN ANY
WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. NO GUARUNTEE'S, WARRENTIES OR ANYTHING OF THE
SORT IS ATTACHED TO THE USE/MISUSE OF THIS PROGRAM!
Freeware Notice
---------------
This software, QuickMod, is hereby dedicated to the public domain.
In other words, you may copy this, distribute this, give it to your
friends, burn it, etc, etc, without having to register it. It is
FREE. This software may be freely uploaded to Bulletin Board Systems
and may be included in shareware catalogs, or CD-ROMs or whatever.
How to Use It
-------------
WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM IN DESQVIEW!!!!!! SEE TECHNICAL
NOTES BELOW!
I'm not going to try to bother to explain how to use it, except for
few minor things. To start the program, type QUICKMOD and hit <ENTER>.
You will first be asked where you want the sound to be played through.
I haven't experiemented with this part of it, since I'm using a shareware
Pascal OBJECT file, and haven't tried it out that much (I just got it today).
You will then be prompted for a .MOD file name (you are giving a menu
of the .MODs in the current directory. You can change the directory
by hitting the TAB key until it gets to the DIRECTORY portion of the
screen. Scroll down this menu until you come to the directory you
want, and hit enter. Then select the .MOD you would like to play.).
The mouse is supported during the file selection process ONLY.
Once you have entered the filename, the music should start to play
through your sound card, or pc-speaker--depending on what you selected.
To interupt the playback of the mod, hit any key. After the mod has
finished playing, hit any key to return to the .MOD filename prompt.
Hit escape at the .MOD filename prompt to quit back to DOS. It's that
easy.
Technical Notes
---------------
QuickMod will not operate in a DesqView window (at least, it won't
on my machine----it just reboots the computer. Who knows why? Not
me). It DOES (at least, on my computer) operate well will QEMM
loaded. Be careful using this program...like I say, it REBOOTS MY
COMPUTER UNDER DESQVIEW!!!!
Support
-------
I am not going to support this program, since I'm never, ever going to
play with the source code ever again. I basically did this to see if
I could do it, and to play around with the OBJECT file that I found
that plays MOD files. I WOULD like to know if you like the program
though. Who knows, I _MAY_ do something down the road with it. PLEASE
DO NOT CONTACT ME WITH PROBLEMS YOU HAVE WITH THIS PROGRAM---I WILL
NOT REPSOND. IF THIS PROGRAM DOESN'T WORK, DON'T USE IT. IF YOU CAN'T
GET THIS PROGRAM TO WORK, DON'T USE IT. Basically, if you like it
and it works, fine. You don't have to do anything. If not, get rid
of it, or don't use it.
I do have a FidoNET node number. It is 1:328/107. Let me know what
you think.
Acknowledgements
----------------
Many thanks to Mark J. Cox for the MOD-OBJ routines, for accessing
the sound card and all of the sound output of QuickMod. Without
these routines, this program would not have been possible. (I'm
a dunce at those sorts of things!). The file MOD-OBJ.DOC has been
included with this archive, as per his request for any freeware/public
domain programs using MOD-OBJ. Thanks Mark!
Farewell
--------
Au revoir! Good bye! C-ya!
That's the MOD and I-AM-OUTTAHERE....
